Other planned events: Urumbilum Creek Road - Road Closure due to Bridge Replacement

NPWS are replacing the Timber Bridge on Urumbilum Creek Road as the bridge has reached end of life. The timber structure will be replaced with a pre cast concrete and steel bridge. The road will be closed for the duration of the project and the closure is expected to last for 5 weeks subject to weather. The closure commenced on Wednesday 22nd November and will run until 20th December, weather dependant.

Slingsbys trail is closed until further notice due to severe flooding causing damage to infrastructure (bridge).

The western part of Syndicate walking track is closed from Tuesday 16 January 2024 until further notice. NPWS staff are working to assess the damage and repair options. The area will reopen when safe.

Closed areas: Moonee Creek south bridge (Caravan park to Green Bluff access) closed

Moonee Creek (Sugar Mill Creek) Bridge is closed until further notice, due to damage from coastal erosion.

The bridge crossing provides access:

  • To Reflections Holiday Park
  • From Moonee south to Coffs Coast Regional Park, Green Bluff and Sapphire North.

Reflections Holiday Parks have closed the bridge until further notice, due to an engineering assessment deeming the bridge unsafe for pedestrians.

If you are planning to do the Solitary Islands coastal walk please reroute:

  • West along Moonee Beach Road to the south-west corner of the shopping centre
  • South along new concrete path on eastern side of Pacific Highway
  • South onto southern end of North Solitary Drive
  • East onto North Sapphire Road to the beach access at Beachstone Cafe

Green Bluff is alternatively accessible from the south via Rutile trail, off Ivory Circuit in North Sapphire.

Closed areas: Never Never picnic area shelter shed closed

Never Never picnic area shelter is closed until further notice due to damage sustained during extended wet weather. The shelter will be reconstructed in 2024.

Closed areas: Part walking track closures due to track construction - Emerald Beach

Some parts of these parks are closed while upgrades are made to the walking tracks and stairs. The closed areas are:

  • Part of Dammerels Headland walking track, from Fiddamans road to the beach access stairs

Solitary Island Coastal Walk will remain open during construction. Work will be completed in stages to maintain public access. Please follow directional signage during construction.

Other planned events: Bongil Bongil NP Fox Baiting Program

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting an ongoing ground baiting program in Bongil Bongil National Park from 10 August 2023 to 28 February 2024. The operation will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of foxes. The program is designed to minimise fox impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species. Signs will be placed at the entry to the baiting area. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW NPWS-managed lands. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs) and should be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.
